TEMPLE KNIGHTS ARE “ACTIVE AND INVOLVED” IN COMPETITIONS

Temple Intermediate is proud to announce that our students have been active and involved in a number of Southern California regional academic contests.  Not only have we been participants, but we have made some “good noise” as our students have been awarded numerous medals, and some of them have been advanced to participate at the next levels of competition (Statewide and National).

Our first recent competition was the L.A. County Science Olympiad, which took place at Antelope Valley College on February 18th. We were represented by our Temple Academic Competition Team (TACT), led by our Math Teacher, Mr. Anthony Ha. Our Temple Knights made a great showing by placing 6th overall, and by taking home an assortment of individual medals!

The next event was the National History Day Competition, that took place at San Gabriel High School on March 4th. This time, our team was led by the duo of Mr. Chuck Diep and Mrs. Minh Anderson.  Once again, our Temple Knights stole the show by having ALL 15 OF OUR PARTICIPANTS TAKE HOME MEDALS!!! 11 of our students advanced to the State Competition in Sacramento in April!

The following Saturday, March 11th, our Temple Academic Competition Team (TACT) ventured out to Mark Keppel High School for the Math Field Day Competition.  At this event, Temple competed against neighboring middle schools.  We did not disappoint with a number of our Temple Knights bringing home awards.

Last, but not least, our TACT traveled to the University of Southern California for the International Academic Competition.  This was a contest in the areas of Geography, History and Science. Our students proved to be a cut above, as most of our students qualified to move forward to the National Finals and International Finals!!

Overall, it’s been a busy extracurricular year for our Temple Students, as they have been competing in sports and academic competitions and hosting visual and performing arts productions.  We couldn’t be more proud of them for it, and we are not done yet!  Knights R.I.D.E.
